Thermawood Otago’s retrofit double glazing delivers warmer, quieter homes while preserving existing timber windows
24 Oct 2026
Thermawood Otago helps homeowners enjoy warmer, quieter and more comfortable homes without replacing their existing timber windows. Based in Dunedin and serving Otago, Central Otago and Southland, the team specialises in retrofit double glazing that preserves the character and craftsmanship of existing wooden windows and doors. For homeowners considering double glazing in Dunedin or retrofit double glazing in Invercargill, this approach offers a cost-effective way to reduce heat loss, outside noise and condensation while keeping the windows that make their home distinctive.
Using the New Zealand-designed, patented Thermawood system, the team combines modern double glazing with purpose-designed drainage and Warm Edge technology to protect timber and glass and support lasting thermal performance. Timber window repair and restoration can be completed as part of the same project, addressing rot, draughts and windows that are difficult to open or close. Experience with heritage homes, villas, sash windows and leadlights means original features can be retained while everyday comfort improves. Retrofit double glazing is also available for existing aluminium windows in Dunedin and throughout the service area.
Homeowners choosing Thermawood Otago benefit from practical advice, clear communication and careful workmanship throughout their project. The team assesses existing windows, explains the available options and provides a quote, helping customers make an informed decision before committing to replacement windows. Those planning a window repair or retrofit double glazing project can contact the Dunedin team on 03 488 4000 to discuss a more comfortable home.
